In response to the recent devastation from Central Texas flooding, community leaders rallied to organize a day-long benefit concert, FloodAidTX, to support flood relief. The concert will take place on Sunday, June 28, at the Palmer Events Center, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the United Way of Hays County Flood Relief Fund and the Austin Disaster Relief Network’s flood relief efforts.

Presented by the City of Austin, Travis County, the Lower Colorado River Authority, Texas Music Office and Palmer Events Center, FloodAidTX is scheduled for noon to 10:00 p.m. featuring two indoor stages and two outdoor stages. FloodAidTX will be hosted by Jack Ingram and Ray Benson and will include a lineup of more than 50 artists. Ingram and Benson will end the night with an all-star jam session featuring other music legends including Robert Earl Keene, Reckless Kelly’s Cody and Willy Braun, Kevin Fowler, and Little Joe of Little Joe Y Famali, among others.

“In Texas, we help our neighbors when they are in need,’’ said Phil Wilson, LCRA general manager. “LCRA has an 80-year history of serving Texans, and we want to do our part to help our friends and neighbors who are still recovering from the recent flooding.’’

The United Way of Hays County and Austin Disaster Relief Network have been on the ground providing aid since the flooding began in May. Both organizations are donating funds, resources, volunteers and ongoing support for the hundreds of families affected by the Memorial Day flooding.

“We’re a family here in Central Texas, and when something like this happens it is incumbent on all of us to step up and help,” said Austin Mayor Steve Adler. “This Sunday gives Texans the opportunity to help other Texans, while enjoying some great entertainment in the process.”

The event is produced by Crosswind Media and Public Relations and Clayton Corn Productions along with creative support from LBTJ Creative and volunteer support from Fabulous Working Ladies service group. Backstage Design Studios produced the event’s logo.

Corn credited the community’s can-do spirit for helping organize the event in under 30 days. “It’s unheard of to organize an event of this magnitude in under a month,” said Corn. “FloodAidTX would not be possible without the leadership of the City of Austin, and the support of Travis County, the LCRA and a host of volunteers from the SXSW community.” Corn said the city cleared every permit and provided the Palmer Events Center as the venue.

Texas grocery store H-E-B is sponsoring the Jack Ingram Stage and global technology leader Dell is sponsoring the Ray Benson Stage, and Pepsi is a music sponsor.

Former Texas Longhorn and NFL wide receiver Jordan Shipley will emcee the presentations and introduce the All-Star Jam component following the day’s live music performances.

“This is really the best that Austin and Central Texas has to offer,” said Thomas Graham, CEO of Crosswind Media & Public Relations, one of the events producers. “Austin is giving back in a way that only the Live Music Capital of the World can, with live music.”

Additional production partners include One Live Media, Klayman Productions, Big House Sounds, Inc., Miller Pro Audio, Roadway Productions, Soundcheck Austin, Backstage Design Studio, United Site Services, Wicked Signs, Austin Pure Water Treatment, Inc., and ILIOS Lighting. Media partners include KVUE-ABC, KOKE-FM, KASE-FM, KVET-FM, KEYE-CBS, The Austin Chronicle, The Texas Tribune, The Austin American Statesman, Austin Woman Magazine and ATX Man Magazine.
